These style CGI gaskets are comprised of a 304 stainless steel spiral-wound sealing element with a flexible graphite filler. A carbon steel outer ring assists in centering the gasket between mating flange faces and preventing over-compression of the sealing element ensuring optimum sealing performance. An additional carbon steel inner ring provides additional compression stop and prevents the buckling of the sealing elemnt over time. It also acts as a physical barrier between the sealing element and the process media to help shield the windings from heat, chemicals, and corrosives that might cause erosion.
